Wire saw opening a stone bench in the Denizli basin

Denizli · Türkiye

The block decides.

Everything a buyer complains about eighteen months later — colour that drifts between pallets, a filled hole that opens, a slab that will not bookmatch — was settled when the block was chosen. We choose the block before it is cut and the number stays on it, through the gang saw, onto the bundle, onto the packing list.

Cut orientation

01 — Cross cut

Cut along the layers.

The saw runs parallel to the sediment bedding and the face opens into the cloudy, flowered pattern most people picture when they hear travertine. It hides jointing well and is what a hotel lobby usually buys. It is also the cut that exposes more open pore per square metre, which is why the fill specification matters more here than anywhere else in the range.

The range

Six lines, split the way stone is actually bought.

An importer does not order marble. They order a format: slab for a fabricator, calibrated tile for a floor contract, split-face for a façade, a cut-to-size basin for a hotel bathroom. The range below is divided by format and finish, because that is the axis a purchase order is written on — not by colour, which changes inside every one of these lines.

Marble & Onyx Slab

Marble & Onyx Slab

The marble and onyx programme, in the names a European project is specified on: Cappuccino Forest, Bianco Lasa, Fantastic Onyx, Pietra Grey, Spanish Dark and Bronzetto, polished or honed. Slab up to 300 × 190 cm in 2 and 3 cm, shipped on A-frames in cut sequence with the block number on the bundle. Bookmatched pairs are not split to fill a container.

Honed & Filled Travertine Tile

The volume line. Calibrated modular tile in Ivory, Classic, Light Commercial and Country Classic, honed to a soft matt and filled with a colour-matched resin-cement blend. Sold in 30.5, 40.6, 45.7, 61 cm modular and 61 × free-length. This is the floor a distributor stocks and a contractor lays without thinking about it — which is exactly why the thickness tolerance is the specification that matters.

Tumbled Travertine Tile

The same stone, run through the tumbling drum until the edge softens and the pore stays open. Unfilled by default, which is the correct answer outdoors: an open pore drains, a resin-filled one traps water and lifts at the first frost cycle. Supplied in Light, Standard, Classic Mix, Country Classic (Scabas), Walnut and Commercial. Frost tested to 48 cycles under EN 12371.

Technical data

Our reading on the left, the standard on the right.

Values are typical for current production runs, tested to the European methods named in the last column. Where a harmonised standard sets a limit we quote it next to the value. The report for your material goes out with the order.

ParameterUnitPetrarraLimit / standard
Apparent densityg/cm³2.45EN 1936 — declared value, no minimum
Open porosity%2.9EN 1936 — declared value
Water absorption, atmospheric%1.6EN 13755 — declared; Denizli basin runs 0.9 – 2.6
Compressive strengthMPa62EN 1926 — declared; basin range 44 – 70
Flexural strength, concentrated loadMPa11.4EN 12372 — declared value
Abrasion resistance, wide wheelmm21EN 14157 — lower is better; declared
Frost resistancecycles48EN 12371 — flexural loss under 20 % required

Denizli stone is not one material. The values above are typical for the Ivory and Classic travertine range; Country Classic and Walnut are denser and read differently on porosity and absorption, and the marble and onyx programme is a separate sheet. Ask for the material-specific report.

Compliance

The document set an importer opens first.

Natural stone placed on the EU market is sold against a harmonised standard and a Declaration of Performance, and the values in it belong to a specific material from a specific quarry. These are the standards your specification and your DoP will be written against; the test reports for your material go out with the order.

EN 12057

Modular tiles — product standard for calibrated tile, with the declared thickness and dimensional class

EN 12058

Slabs for floors and stairs — applies to the 2 and 3 cm slab range

EN 1469

Slabs for cladding — the standard a façade specification is written against

EN 1341

Slabs for external paving — applies to the unfilled tumbled range in exterior use

CE marking + DoP

Declaration of Performance issued per material and per product line, with the test report numbers

ISPM-15

Heat treatment and stamping of all wooden crates, pallets and A-frames

EN 12440

Denomination of natural stone — commercial name, petrographic name and quarry locality declared together

Catalogue

Every figure on this site, in one attachable file.

The catalogue carries the same numbers you are reading here — format and thickness table per line, the technical sheet against each European method, container loading per format, and the packing dimensions — in a file a purchasing department can forward without anyone rewriting it.

  • 01Format and thickness table for all six lines
  • 02Colour range: Ivory, Classic, Light Commercial, Country Classic, Walnut
  • 03Technical sheet: density, absorption, strength, abrasion, frost, slip
  • 04Cut orientation guide — vein cut and cross cut, with yield notes
  • 05Filled and unfilled specification, and where each belongs
  • 06Container loading per format, with the weight-bound note
  • 07Crate, pallet and A-frame dimensions with ISPM-15 marking

Private-label and made-to-drawing work is quoted separately: send the drawing, the finish and the annual quantity for fabricated pieces, or the format schedule for tile. Sample boxes of the full colour range ship within three working days.
